How could you have "played it the other night" if the game doesn't come out until late in '06 ?
What I thought is that you mistook it for NCAA Football 06, and that when you said the players look too fat that you were referring to NCAA Football's player. Madden and NCAA football have both always done pretty crappy when talking about player models.
